Chem4Change was founded from the belief that science should be more than a school subject, it should be a tool for improving lives.
During my volunteer experience at an orphanage in Chiang Mai, Thailand, I met children who lacked access to basic resources but were deeply curious and eager to learn. I realized that chemistry could be a powerful way to connect education with real-world needs like clean water, health, and environmental protection.
At the same time, I saw how few children from underserved communities see themselves represented in science. Many view chemistry as something distant, difficult, or reserved for others. I wanted to change that by teaching chemistry through stories and hands-on problem solving, showing students that they can be scientists who make a difference in their own communities.
Chem4Change was created to bring chemistry to life for children who may not have access to labs or traditional science programs. By combining storytelling, environmental responsibility, and community-based experiments, Chem4Change helps students become “community chemists” who use science to solve problems around them.
This organization is both local and global in spirit. It begins by serving underserved communities close to home, with a long-term vision of expanding to orphanages and schools around the world.
Chem4Change exists to prove that curiosity can lead to confidence, and that chemistry can be a force for positive change.
A world where every child sees science as a pathway to health, confidence, and positive impact in their community and beyond.
These guide how Chem4Change operates:
1. Equity in Education
Every child deserves access to engaging, meaningful science education regardless of income or location.
2. Learning Through Action
We believe students learn best by doing—solving real problems through hands-on chemistry experiments.
3. Community Impact
Science should improve everyday life, from clean water to environmental health.
4. Storytelling & Identity
Representation matters. We use stories and role models so children can see themselves as scientists and changemakers.
5. Sustainability
We promote green chemistry and environmental responsibility in every program we design.
6. Curiosity & Confidence
Chem4Change builds both scientific curiosity and self-belief.
